Abstract

The current research study aimed to identify the phenomenon of school dropout and what this phenomenon entails in terms of matters, events and repercussions that may have negative effects on the behavior of the dropout individual himself and on the surrounding society. Therefore, the researcher must investigate this phenomenon in depth and study its circumstances, causes and methods of treatment, if any, to reach results and recommendations. He used the descriptive and analytical approaches or methods for this case to describe and analyze the phenomenon theoretically to clarify the reasons available for this case in our society (Iraq) and to address this case from the economic aspect or from the economic axis only due to the sensitivity of the case and the complexity of its many aspects and axes. Therefore, the researcher focused on the economic axis and the extent of the impact of this phenomenon on the economic aspect. Among the results he reached is that dropout affects the country in the field of its economy, as it increases illiteracy and thus increases the level of unemployment, which in turn weakens the structure and economic productivity of society. Also, human resources have lost one of the basic components or pillars on which society is based.
