Abstract
The research discusses the role of (the third variable) in balancing the system of transience and permanence in public urban spaces, which is represented by the PEA approach, where the problem, hypothesis, objectives, methodology and results of the research crystallized through: - The problem: - The lack of clarity of the mechanisms of balance in the conceptual system of transience and permanence in public urban spaces: - The hypothesis: - The third variable (PEA approach) is considered responsible for the balancing process in the system of transience and permanence in public urban spaces. Research Objective: The research aims to reveal the working mechanisms of (the third variable) represented by the PEA approach to achieve balance in the conceptual system of transience and permanence in public urban spaces. Research Methodology: The research adopted the descriptive and analytical method to achieve the research objectives. Results The research reached the following results:
The PEA approach is a modular approach that can be adapted to different work contexts, depending on the specificities of each project and the specificities of each place and time. This approach consists of three basic steps (protecte, enhance, and add), which contribute to achieving a balance between transience and permanence in urban public spaces .
The research also found that the PEA approach relies on the strengths of the place in which it operates, and the positives of that place rather than its negatives, i.e., it is a reconciliatory approach.
