Abstract
The research seeks to study and evaluate the reality of the irrigation and drainage network in Al-Muthanna Governorate as one of the basic pillars of comprehensive agricultural development, which seeks to integrate the requirements for the development of agricultural activity as it occupies an important place among economic activities in general and the local economy of Al-Muthanna Governorate in general, as it is considered the main activity of the rural population. Who is preparing to work on finding a highly efficient irrigation and drainage network, as the poor quality of the sewers contributes to the high levels of salts in the lands through which they pass due to filtration processes resulting from lack of lining. The sewers also suffer from neglect as they are filled with the growth of weeds, reeds, and sedges, which constitutes an obstacle to the flow of water. They are also places for throwing household waste, turning them into a suitable environment for the growth of pathogenic microbes that are transmitted to residents and animals.
