Abstract
The research aims to clarify the role of justice and gender equality in achieving social sustainability, by shedding light on how to apply justice, explaining the most important challenges and difficulties facing its implementation in Iraq, explaining the reasons for the gender gap, and knowing the reasons for the gap in the list (the global index of the gap between men and women) between Iraq and Iceland.
The research hypothesis is that new legislation and laws in Iraq can play an important role in achieving justice and equality between men and women. The research followed the descriptive approach and was based on conducting a comparison between Iraq and Iceland in several axes, including (education, employment, health, politics and economic participation) to find out the reasons for the gap in the list (global index of the gap between men and women) between Iraq and Iceland.
The proposed solutions are to address the large gap in the list (global index of the gap between men and women) between the two countries, as Iceland occupies first place on the list while Iraq occupies the last positions. The most prominent conclusions are that Iraq has begun to take positive and important steps towards achieving gender justice through legislation, laws and directives, with monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of instructions in the best and fastest ways.
The most important recommendations are the need to unify efforts and cooperation between all state institutions concerned with the issue of (justice and equality) and between international institutions in developed countries, and to exchange experiences with Iceland, which ranks first on the list (global index of the gap between men and women), and with neighboring countries and benefit from their experiences, with Develop a strategic plan to bring about complete change to achieve gender justice in Iraq.
