Abstract
The research aims to identify the importance of sovereign funds in achieving sustainable development, especially in rentier countries that suffer from the absence of economic diversification, in addition to their close association between external variables, which makes them more vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil prices. Iraq, like rentier countries, suffers from the impact of changes in oil prices. The global oil resource as a result of the absence of economic diversification and the absence of the relevant sovereign fund to preserve the wealth of the national economy, so the need for the importance of sovereign funds and their role in investing oil surpluses to provide adequate financial space in light of the economic shocks that the Iraqi economy is exposed to from time to time, so he The research assumes that the sovereign wealth fund plays an effective role in achieving sustainable development in a way that contributes to achieving financial and economic stability and preserving the rights of future generations.
